Garena announced it's Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6-month-long professional gaming league which includes more than 100 matches online. The GPL's inaugural season will be an on-line League of Legends tournament with six teams of professional players. that represent elite players from the respective nations. In January 2013 Garena released the 2nd season of the Garena Premier League, which will begin on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two teams that are new to Taiwan and Vietnam, bringing the total amount of teams up to eight. Teams include: AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The stadium opened in November of 2014. Garena Electronic Sports Stadium, a dedicated venue for esports has opened at Neihu District, Taipei. The stadium was initially constructed to host the League of Legends Masters Series which is the most prestigious LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league that was a spin-off of GPL. In the month of January, Garena launched Iron Solari League the first women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. This is a bimonthly affair that takes place in the second and third quarters of each month. This event aims at encouraging participation by communities that are underrepresented and is accessible to all women who identify as the same. Garena not only organizes tournaments but also organizes offline gatherings and other events that permit users to engage.
